The workshop

Our workshop offers a variety of services and a cozy place where you can have work done to your car and the option to help yourself.
Non-rotary powered cars are also welcome, but we offer only standard service work them. If you have a rotary powered car you can have just about anything done to them.

ROTARY SERVICES

A list of specific services that we can offer for your rotary car.

Compression testing
Low compression rates are a well known problem with rotary engines. These rates are a good indication of the general health of your engine.
We have a special device with which you can test rotary engines. This device makes it possible to simultaneously measure compression rates for the 3 chambers of a rotor. The measured values are standardized at 250rpm.

If your planning to buy a rotary car. We always advise you to have it tested before you hand over the money. Don’t buy a rotary powered car without knowing the compression rates!

Engine rebuild
When the compression values are on the low side, or the engine just stopped working, you have 3 options. You can either sell the car, opt for a rebuild, buy a new engine or used engine.
For our rebuild service we offer, we work together with “The Very Best” rotary shop in Europe, Rotary Revs.
They are located in the U.K. And have established quite the record for themselves. Be sure to have a look on their website.

How does that work?
If you have a suspicion that the engine is running low on compression you contact us and we give you our opinion and a price estimate. If you want to know our base prices, send us an e-mail to info@b-rpm.be.
We need to know some parameters to give you an exact quotation.
In some cases we would need to do a compression test. 

What happens next?
If we come to a signed agreement and you drop off your car. The next steps will be carried out.

  • We take out the engine carefully.
  • The engine is shipped in a crate to Rotary Revs
  • Rotary Revs takes it apart
  • They inform us if there is extra damage that will need to be fixed
  • Rotary Revs executes the actual rebuild and porting if asked
  • It’s shipped back to us
  • We drop it back in the car and perform primary tests
  • You pick up the car and get a smile on your face …

There are other formulas as well, these will have been discussed in advance.

Complete oil change
In many cases people use the “wrong” oil grade for their rotary car. The main reason for that is, Mazda said so.
We advise you to use an xW40 grade oil. For better bearing protection. Check our shop and search “rotary oil “, to see what types of oil we recommend. For a detailed explanation of what oil to use read up in the oil section in Drive Rotary.

We can offer you a full oil change. What does that mean? We disconnect the main oil lines and drain as much as possible from the engine and oil coolers. With normal oil changes, via the drain plug, you’ll only drain the oil that sits in the sump. That’s only about half the capacity of the entire oil system. When we disconnect the main oil lines, we can get up to 7 liters drained from it.

Install Sohn adapter
It is of great importance that your engine is lubricated with to correct and clean oil. Rotary engines inject oil in the rotor housing to lubricate the Apex seals. This is done by the OMP. The OMP sucks the oil from the sump. A Sohn adapter blocks of that oil and is connected to an extra oil reservoir. To knows the exact details on how this works. Vehicle inspection
If you live in Belgium, your car will have to undergo a yearly inspection. Many of us drive a modified car. We have several stock parts that will help you pass this inspection if you no longer have them yourself. Send an e-mail to info@b-rpm.be to know the rental prices.

Trackday Service
We have lots of experience on trackdays. For a fair price you can have your car checked when you plan to participate in a trackday. What’s checked?

  • Tire pressure & wear
  • lug nuts tightened to spec
  • Liquids topped up
  • Brakes checked and bleed

We also provide you with some advice on how to tackle your trackday.

  • Seat position
  • Do’s and don’ts

And if you want, for a little extra you can have a small top up kit, just in case the car decides to spill some fluids.

GENERAL SERVICES

As we said, we do not discriminate. If you want work done to your non-rotary powered car, these are the items it’s eligible for. We do not do distribution service or any other major work that requires brand specific tools.

Minor Maintenance
This service includes the following basic service items:
     – Oil
     – Oil filter
     – Window washer fluid

ECU read-out
Does the car throw some codes or you have a lit up CEL? And you want to get them checked? We can help you with that as well.

Installing aftermarket parts
Did you buy some cool parts from us or you already bought them and want them installed? We’re happy to help you out with that to. This of course needs to be discussed before we can start working on your car. As not all parts are a straight fit and an estimation of the costs isn’t easy.
